A thought leader’s view on Shayype

What does a genuine “thought leader” think of Shayype? Reinhold M Karner – a trusted guide for entrepreneurial mastery, author, and speaker, as well as an ambassador for the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) – recently published an article entitled “Nine rules for successful sustainable innovation”, prompting us to show him our White Paper and “battle card”. We are really grateful for his “FOC” response…

Thank you for sharing the materials on Shayype. After a thorough review of both the white paper and the battle card, I would like to offer the following assessment and encouragement:

  1. Does Shayype have a real chance?

Yes, under the right strategic conditions.

You are addressing a central pain point in global cybersecurity: the vulnerability and user-friction of traditional authentication systems. Shayype offers a compelling solution — secure, simple, and device-independent — which fills an evident gap in today’s authentication landscape.

Your approach eliminates the need for transmitted codes, biometric risks, or hardware dependencies, making it potentially attractive across a wide range of use cases — from online services to call centres, travel security, or even identity verification in hostile environments.

Key success factors will include:

  • Clear UX/UI for mainstream users
  • Market education and demonstration
  • Strategic alliances for adoption and scaling (e.g., fintech, govtech, platforms)
  1. Is it new and unique?

Yes, in a meaningful way.

While OTPs, 2FA, and visual pattern concepts exist individually, the Shayype method — using a mentally held pattern to extract a dynamic OTP from a grid — is both innovative and technically elegant. Its core strength lies in the fact that the “secret” is never exposed or stored — only represented, temporarily and unrecoverably. That is a powerful differentiator.

In essence, Shayype can act as:

  • A self-contained authentication factor
  • A passwordless, hardware-free 2FA
  • A universal identity tool across devices, networks and geographies

Conclusion (Personal Opinion)

Shayype is an intelligent and timely innovation. It’s one of the few “re-inventions” of authentication that could realistically balance usability, scalability and robust security, without burdening the user. You’ve struck a clever middle ground that deserves serious consideration by organisations looking for low-cost, secure and widely deployable solutions.

If the team can now:

  • Simplify onboarding and user understanding
  • Offer seamless API integrations
  • Gain traction via targeted partnerships

…then Shayype has every chance to become a Stripe of authentication, as you rightly allude to.

I wish you every success in your venture. Shayype is original, well thought-through, and – most importantly – needed.

Best regards
